Labor Art

I really enjoyed our class the other day, and it definitely gave me more ideas to incorporate into my paper.  Since that class I have been looking up songs, artwork, and poems that I might use in my paper to even further understand the lives of the workers for Pullman, and the labor at the time.

I also got to looking at some other labor songs:

  1. Oh wow I really like the "Low Wages, HIgh Rent" one. Do you know who the fat guy is suppose to be? is it alluding to a specific person or a group of people in general?

  2. He is supposed to be George Pullman, the man whose company I am writing about. He was a pretty intense boss apparently, and this picture expresses perfectly why the workers went on strike. He had huge taxes on his company houses, and lowered their wages, so obviously the workers did not like that!
